Anyone for sardines?

So, after a smooth, yet ridiculously early journey up to Kettering, I spent the day at Marval; the company that produces the call-logging system we use at work.

I was on a course to futher my skillbase on the web-based side of the application, which I’m in the process of developing forms for. This turned out to be incredibly informative and I now know much more about the system’s capabilities. I have a lot of ideas on how to impliment new ways of making our lives on the Servicedesk easier; and that can only be a good thing!

The trip back to London was fine, apart from not being able to get much work on the book done because of the sun shining on the screen for most of the time. As was to be expected, having arrived at around 6pm, the tube was heaving, but it’s not far from St. Pancras to London Bridge, so it wasn’t totally unbearable.
It was fairly packed at London Bridge too. I managed to see that there was a train to Eastbourne due to leave shortly – or so I thought – so I set off toward the platform, only find it heading off, full to bursting, ten minutes early; except it wasn’t, it was three-quarters of an hour late.

I decided that this was not an encouraging sign and went to find out about the next available train to Lewes. There didn’t appear to be one in the immediate, or indeed, distant future. Again, this didn’t fill me with confidence but I did notice there was a train going to Brighton in a few minutes, so I decided that it would be better to get that and have a slightly longer journey but at least it was a definite. I use the words ’slightly’ and ‘longer’ with my tongue wedged firmly in my cheek, however, as it has to be one of the slowest journeys from London I have made in a long while; nearly two hours by the time I get home and that was with a direct connection. Oh, the fun of rail travel.

Still, it’s been a good day otherwise and I have more knowledge, a Marval pen and a new 1gb memory stick for my troubles. Bonus!
